Amy Stein: Domesticated Photograph Series

Amy Stein’s Domesticated series serves as modern dioramas of current natural history, exploring the integration and behaviour of humans and animals. The series explores the artist’s fascination with hunting cultures desire to kill, stuff or tame the wild. Rented taxidermy animals were used in the shoot, which brings a stillness to the scenes but also makes some of them seem a little unnatural. Unlike with some photography I have seen using taxidermy animals however, far from looking flat and un-lifelike, these images seem a almost tense with atmosphere. There are plenty of other photographs in the series which do not picture foxes on her website.

Aled Lewis: Toy Foxes and Rabbits

I’ve just rediscovered the work of Aled Lewis, who uses toys and text to create humorous illustrations. The work began as part of his ‘Make Something Cool Every Day’ project, and I recomend checking out his website or Tumblr for more of these great photos.
